II Conference on authentication in art | Nebrija Univertisy

CALL FOR PAPERS | translation of the conference website (Spanish)

Following the 1st Conference on authentication in art held in January 2020, the University of Nebrija is organizing a new edition of the conference, this year in the online modality, with a view to the internationalization of the event and with a special focus on the interdisciplinary nature of Art Authentication

The aim of this conference is to encourage new contributions to the scientific literature on the expertise of works of art.To this end, 3 basic lines of research have been established that form the central column of the conference and cover different aspects of expertise:

Line 1: Expertise and the legal system.

This line includes papers that study and analyze the points of tangency between the expertise of works of art and the law, as well as the developments in recent years in both legal doctrine and case law on the subject that are shaping the proper practice of the expertise of works of art.

Line 2: The interdisciplinary nature of forensics art authentication.

This line includes the papers that explore the different activities that are around the evaluation of works of art and that nowadays have become indispensable; as well as the different scientific, technical or documentary tools that provide for the correct evaluation (historians, dealers, laboratories, auctions, questioned document analysts, restorers, etc…).

Line 3: Expertise applied to different artistic disciplines.

This line includes papers that deal with the application of specialized knowledge to different types of pieces on the market, thus allowing experts in certain fields to show their special knowledge about a specific type of piece.

We therefore invite participants from the scientific and professional community to attend this conference to be held at the University of Nebrija on January 21 and 22, 2022, to present case studies and explore in depth the following areas:

Line 1: Expertise and legal order.

Line 2: The interdisciplinary nature of artwork expertise.

Line 3: Expertise applied to different art disciplines.
